Cycle tourism is a vacation style that allows you to explore territories and get to know not only the places but above all the local identities, the people. Cycle tourism is also a business, which stimulates and enriches the economies of destinations that invest in activities and infrastructures related to active holidays. Cycle tourism also represents a growing sector that generates profits and is in line with the need to protect the environment through sustainable practices.

Bike station Clorofilla

Cycle tourism is above all a passion, and the bicycle is a powerful tool to improve people’s quality of life. . And it is precisely passion, combined with a responsible vision of one’s role, that gave life to the Chlorophyll project, an Italian manufacturer of assistance and charging stations for bicycles and e-bikes.

Clorofilla’s activity is based on the assumption that cycling tourism not only has less impact on the environment but also represents educational tourism, capable of enabling people to discover beauty in motion. . Hence the idea of supporting those realities that focus on the hospitality and welcome of bicycle travelers.

The Company Clorofilla

The company Buratti Meccanica, a historic and prestigious mechanical processing company from Romagna, was born from the experience of Buratti Dino & Figli when Mr. Dino opened a mechanical repair workshop after the Second World War. Today, the company is still managed by the Buratti family, supported by a team of technicians and programmers. Precision, pragmatism, and innovation are the foundations on which the company’s work is based, which in 2019, after years of research and development, presented its charging stations at Eurobike..

Clorofilla Azienda Buratti

The company strongly believes in the improving role of bicycles and cycling holidays, which is why it decides to dedicate itself to the development of solutions that meet the needs of those realities that share the same perspective with Clorofilla The company’s mission is clear: to meet the needs of cyclists by solving the small/big mechanical problems that may arise along the way.

And while it is true that assistance stations are specifically designed for the end-user – the cyclist – it is also true that Clorofilla at the same time seeks to respond to a question, sometimes not yet emerged or perhaps unexpressed, from bars, restaurants, bike hotels, and facilities that aim to provide products dedicated to that cyclist.

Infrastructure and hospitality culture are the fronts to work on to contribute to the development of cycle tourism and make a destination more attractive; it is important to be present and work to improve these aspects. In fact, a positive experience generates significant benefits for the bicycle holiday movement.

The Apennine Cycle Path and other projects

There are already cycle tourism itineraries in Italy where the result of the installation of bicycle repair and e-bike charging stations can be seen, such as the Apennine Cycle Path. Thanks to the partnership with Misura, sponsor of the cycle path, funds have been made available to finance the purchase of Clorofilla stations. For this cycle path, the stations have been customized.

Clorofilla service and charging stations for bikes

Other projects in progress involve the enhancement of the Cycle Path of the Parks of Calabria and the cycle tourism network “In Bici a Pelo d’Acqua” in Piedmont. In 2024, these cycling routes will be enriched with the installation of repair and charging stations for bicycles, marking an important step towards the realization and promotion of sustainable solutions in the cycle tourism sector.

Specifically, the Calabria Region is preparing to equip its 545 kilometers of Cycle Path with 20 customized stations Clorofilla Power. Similarly, the Piedmontese cycle tourism network “In Bici a Pelo d’Acqua” will adopt 27 Clorofilla Basic and Trail series stations along its 270 kilometers of paths that cross picturesque landscapes, connecting Italy to Switzerland.

These investments testify to the recognition of Chlorophyll’s constant commitment to promoting cutting-edge and sustainable cycling infrastructure, contributing tangibly to the renewal and growth of the territories involved in a distinctive and value-added way.

Accessible to all

The bike is democratic, accessible to all. Equally so should be the tools for the cyclist. This is why the designers have created an ergonomic and intuitive design that makes the charging stations easily accessible and usable. Furthermore, to minimize maintenance, wear-resistant components have been used.

Clorofilla Bike Station

What can be found on a charging station? A series of screwdrivers, Allen keys, and wrenches of the most common sizes to be able to intervene in case of need and solve small mechanical problems.

Not only should the use be “easy,” but also the availability. Communicating the presence of charging and assistance stations is fundamental so that the community of cyclists and cycle tourists are aware of the existence of the stations. A hidden or unfindable charging station is of no use.

With this consideration in mind, Clorofilla has implemented two additional services for the facilities that decide to install the charging stations. Firstly, an interactive Google map has been created, allowing users to identify the nearest charging station or view available stations in a particular area of interest. Furthermore, in collaboration with Komoot, a collection of all charging stations has been created so that those who use Komoot can find them on their route.
