Legambiente has been engaged for years in promoting active and sustainable forms of tourism and, in particular, in the development of bicycle and bicycle touring routes that are easily accessible even to less experienced users.
In June, Legambiente will be busy on two big events for cycling enthusiasts: Art, Bike & Run + Wine and the CicloAppennina.
Art Bike & Run + Wine is the international event, promoted by Legambiente in collaboration with the Chieti-Pescara Chamber of Commerce, that will take place on the Via Verde, the spectacular 42-km bike path from where this year’s Giro d’Italia will start, along the Costa dei Trabocchi in Abruzzo. Art Bike & Run + Wine brings together sports, nature, culture, sustainability, art and sharing: these are the values promoted by the format during the three-day event. From 2 to June 4, 2023, Art Bike & Run + Wine will propose various initiatives and activities to experience and share: cycling, biking, running, walking, but also street art, meetings, inclusive sociality, and tastings of typical Abruzzo food and wine. Appointments and events open to everyone: athletes, cyclists and runners of all levels, families and tourists. Art Bike & Run + Wine is by all and for all!
The June 18 will start instead from L’Aquila the first edition of the CicloAppennina – Green Fondo Misura, an amateur bicycle race open to all to help the environment and discover by bicycle one of the most pristine and green regions in Italy. The initiative, organized by Misura with Legambiente and ViviAppennino, will take place in the Abruzzo section of the Apennine Cycle Route, the longest bicycle touring route in our country, which runs 3,100 kilometers from Liguria to Sicily along the Apennine ridge, crossing 14 regions, 56 parks and protected areas and more than 300 municipalities in 44 stages. It is the most important sustainable tourism project ever carried out in our country to discover, by pedaling, the Italy of small villages among nature and hidden beauties.
